So yeah, it feels like almost all of my time right now is spent on my old xbox 360 playing Dragon Age: Origins or Fallout New Vegas which are so unbelievably replayable it knocks an entire generation out of the park, or on my switch playing The Messenger, Celeste, Hollow Knight, Monster Train, Chained Echoes or even some nintendo exclusives like Mario X-Com or Metroid Dread. My most replayed games of this entire generation are Dark Souls 3 and Elden Ring, and this is almost ENTIRELY because of their PVP, and because DS3's pvp is dead now my urge to replay it any more has kind of faded, and until ER's DLC comes out I'm burned out as fuck after like 10 playthroughs and it's wildly imbalanced PVP. I mean yeah we have good indie games but I can play those anywhere I want because Switch exists, but for the immobile entertainment centers like PS4/XBone it feels like there just isn't that much replayability. So much of this generation has been focused on story based games with long, plodding drawn out openings like God of War, Horizon Zero Dawn, Witcher 3, FF7 Remake, FF15 and Yakuza Like A Dragon or incredibly long and extremely bloated open world monstrosities like Days Gone, Ghosts of Tsushima, Shadow of War, aforementioned RDR2 and Witcher 3, Dragon Age Inquisition etc. ![]() Even games like Resident Evil 2 Remake and RE7 when compared to their older gen counterparts like original RE2 and RE3, I'd much rather replay RE2 original for the billionth time than pop in RE2 remake and I'm not sure why.Įven excellent games with tons of content like DMC 5, Red Dead Redemption 2, Dishonored 2 and Doom Eternal just don't hold my interest long enough for a full replay. Maybe I'm crazy but there are so few games on my PS4 that I'm like "Yeah, I should totally fire that up and play it again!".
